Fair use rationale for Image:9th World Scout Jamboree.jpg[edit]

Image:9th World Scout Jamboree.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Duke of Edinburgh[edit]

I was there on the closing weekend, as a callow eight year old Wolf Cub. I was introduced to and shook hands with both Lady Baden-Powell and HRH Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who was wearing a Ranger Scout uniform. There is no mention in the article of his presence, but he was definitely there if a suitable reference can be found. 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 21:15, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You need to watch your tone. Scout is always capitalized in this sense in English, and I have had to recorrect figures and some poor new edits, and remove honorifics per WP:MoS. So watch what you call "poorly translated"-you have no room to speak. Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 15:13, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No need to be snotty there. I stand corrected about the capitalisation of Scout, I wasn't aware of its difference from normal English capitalisation protocols. There were several strangled sentences when I started that showed signs of a "computer machine translation" from another language, hence my comment. Nice edits by the way, between us we have ended with a far better article than existed previously. Curious about the figures though....33,000 + 17,000 does make 50,000 total on my calculator, although I admit the 17,000 were camped locally but not on the Sutton location. Where did you get your figure from out of interest? Kind Regards 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 15:26, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes one small point you may have missed WP:MOS MOSNUM has changed in recent weeks. The wikilinking of dates is now deprocated....doesn't it just bug you when policy reverses like this? Hope that helps with your other articles. 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 15:30, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What uniform was he really wearing? To my knowledge, there was no such person as a Ranger Scout. There was a Ranger Guide, and the Scout equivalent then was a Rover Scout. Did he wear Rover Scout uniform? There was no age limit in 1957. I was there as a Rover Scout at the Rover Moot, but I do not even recall that Prince Philip was there. --Bduke (Discussion) 21:47, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Judging by the photograph of the Royal visit by the Duke along with the Queen (on the Birmingham Council's 9th Jamboree history page) he was wearing a pin striped suit. The Scout Association's reference page that the current entry was drawn from has now gone and has been replaced by something completely different. Of course he could have attended more than once during the week and worn a Scout uniform on a second occasion. 21st CENTURY GREENSTUFF 19:50, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I have removed reference to uniform. It is not sourced anyway and is rather trivial. --Bduke (Discussion) 00:01, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dates[edit]

On what dates was this event held? Drutt (talk) 16:22, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It states in the article that the Jamboree was opened on 1 August and closed on 12 August 21st CENTURY GREENSTUFF 19:51, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
