Multiple trophy designs[edit]

AP Trophy designs[edit]

Attempting to track the various iterations of the AP Trophy. When we find the start and end date of each design, we can add them to the article. CC @Woodshed, @Oluwasegu

Williams Trophy (1941–1947)[edit]

AP traveling trophy #1. (Traveling trophy #3 following the lineage of the two Dickinson System trophies.)

Retired by Notre Dame in 1947.

O'Donnell Trophy (1948–1956)[edit]

AP traveling trophy #2: Rev. J. Hugh O'Donnell Memorial Trophy

Retired by Oklahoma in 1956

Bryant Trophy (1957–1965)[edit]

AP traveling trophy #3.

Named the 'Associated Press Trophy', not given a name by Oklahoma. Renamed the Paul W. Bryant Trophy upon retirement by Alabama.

Retired permanently by Alabama in 1965. Currently in the collection of the Paul W. Bryant Museum.

AP Trophy (1966–1977)[edit]

AP traveling trophy #4.

Won permanently by Notre Dame in 1977. Does it have a name?

Retired by Notre Dame in 1977. In 2013, resided in the trophy case at the Joyce Center.

Bryant Trophy (1978–1989)[edit]

AP traveling trophy #5. Named "Bryant" after the death of the coach in 1983.

Retired by Miami in 1989. Currently in the collection of the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame.
