A merge was previously proposed with Aharon HaLevi. This seems inappropriate, as this article is primarily about the Sefer ha-Chinuch, and the view both in 1906 and today is that the Chinuch was not the work of Aharon HaLevi (aka Aaron ben Joseph ha-Levi).
The editors of the 1906 JE therefore created this article for the true author of the Chinuch, presumed to be a different Aaron ha-Levi.
However, at least one strand of present-day scholarship research identifies the true author as the brother of Aharon HaLevi, Pinchas ben Joseph ha-Levi -- so not named Aaron at all.
This merge does seem to have happened, but the comment above is correct. Most current scholars do not believe he wrote the book the article spends most of the time talking about.129.98.153.189 (talk) 17:53, 4 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
