Who was his mother? Here one can read about A. Derby III that he was “the eldest son of Abraham Darby II (1711–1763) and his second wife, Abiah (née Maude) Darby”. But here the same one can read about A. Derby III’s father the following “He had married twice: firstly Margaret Smith (died 1740), with whom he had three children including Abraham Darby III, and secondly the Quaker minister Abiah Maude, with whom he had a further six children.” (It is meaning Margaret Smith but not Abiah Maudewas was his mother).
Well, who was A. Derby III's mother, Abiah (née Maude) Darby or Margaret Smith?
I have amended the article on Abraham Darby II, which was wrong. Both A. Raistrick, Dynasty of Ironfounders, p.3 and B. Trinder, The Darbys of Coalbrookdale, p.35 contain family trees that make Abiah the mother of Abrham III. I have not added a citation of these as they each only show 4 or 5 children, not 9. However, I presume the rest died in infancy. Peterkingiron (talk) 18:01, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
