contradictory

[edit]

The article is self-contradictory: in the first sections, it is said that there are two districts, but later, there are 5 listed. Circeus 19:52, August 4, 2005 (UTC)

In the first instance, we are talking of informal districts; in the second, we are talking about districts represented by a councillor. - Montréalais 05:49, 6 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Article name/Borough name

[edit]

I have come to the realization that there is an error in the title of this article, and in the name of the arrondissement used therein. The name is given as Ahuntsic—Cartierville, with an em, or long, dash. However, the official name of the borough is Ahuntsic-Cartierville, with a normal hyphen. This can be seen on the Ahuntsic-Cartierville website [1] and on the Ministère des Affaires municipales et Régions website [2] (in particular, the Répertoire des municipalités (see, for example, [3]).

This makes sense; the em dash is needed in the name of boroughs such as Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, to avoid something like Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, where there is no way to distinguish the elements because of the proliferation of hyphens. This is not the case in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.

I propose to rename this article, unless there are any major and well-reasoned objections. — Grstain 12:50, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

The deed has been done. — Grstain 15:54, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

Saint-Simon neighbourhood

[edit]

Google Map Maker lists Saint-Simon as a neighbourhood of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, bounded by Chabanel Street West, Saint-Laurent Boulevard, the Metropolitan Autoroute and the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks, with Saint-Simon-Apôtre Park in the centre. Presumably the name comes from the Église de Saint-Simon-Apôtre at 145, rue de Beauharnois. If a reference other than Google Maps can be found for this neighbourhood, perhaps it would be worth mentioning in the article. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 00:18, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Mafia Row"

[edit]

Which street is the "Mafia Row" that newspapers constantly refer to in this area? I see that there was an article just yesterday mentioning about the house owned by the owner of "PornHub.com" that burned down this past Sunday, and that it "backs on to Mafia Row":

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9513573/Montreal-mansion-embattled-Pornhub-founder-burns-arson-fire.html

Thanks in advance to anybody who knows.
