For the stopover airport (Idlewild/JFK), the name of the airport at the time is used, but for the final destnation (Atlanta), the current name is used. Shouldn't this be changed so that they both reflect one name (either the current name or the name at the time of the incident)? --Vreddy92 (talk) 03:28, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean you don't see a hatnote? It's right at the top of the article page, beneath the article/discussion tabs. You even added it yourself, Whoop... , see this edit comparision: [1]
I know I brought this up 2 years ago...but now again New York's airport is referred to as Idlewild and Atlanta's is referred to as Hartsfield-Jackson (not its name at the time). What makes you think I'm not? And why are you replying like I don't know anything about air safety?? I am a student pilot. What's next? My legitimate edit being treated like vandalism? (just kidding) I gotta say that it's just a coincidence that an Air France flight with the same flight number as a much more fatal incident, was involved in another incident (not to mention other airlines with flight number 007, such as Korean Air Flight 007, coincidentally had fatal incidents in the past). The Comair flight was evacuated and it was all over the news. But again, I feel like there were some overreaction involved. Some people might look for an article about the 2011 incident and might get confused especially if they have never heard of that 1962 incident. Even though the 1962 flight was a charter, usually airlines retire flight numbers involved in major incidents while the flight flying the same route at the same time is assigned a different number. One time there was a storm in my neighborhood where it knocked down trees but there were ****load of police cars driving down my street at 4 AM, all blaring their sirens loudly and it didn't stop for at least 30 minutes. It woke my parents up but at least it didn't wake me up. Another example of such overreaction is the incident of Northwest Airlines Flight 188, where two pilots were so distracted with a discussion of scheduling changes that they overshot the runway by about 150 miles in October 2009. These pilots, both in their 50s, immediately got their pilot license revoked even though they have a clean pilot record and have been flying for airlines since the 1980s. Nobody got hurt, it's just that the plane landed at its destination, Minneapolis, an hour late. Yes, it was annoying to the passengers, crew, ATC and others involved, but the immediate suspension of otherwise good pilots is just too much.
