Untitled[edit]

http://www.hochtief.com/hochtief_en/112.jhtml suggests that although the official opening date was in 1939, the canal was actually open in 1934. Any ideas about the discrepancy? --04:21, 16 February 2006 (UTC)TheGrappler

Small canal??[edit]

Why call this canal small and shallow? It is one of the major waterways in Belgium. Small canals take barges of just 300 t (Spitz barge), the Albert takes up to 10000 t These adjectives are thus removed LHOON (talk) 20:26, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect illustrations[edit]

Two of the pictures in this article, by contributor Sb2s3, are not in fact of the Albert Canal, but of smaller canals nearby. The one of the path in the trees appears to be of the railway path on the east bank of the Zuid-Willemsvaart between Smeermaas and Neerharen; the other by the same contributor appears to be either the Zuid-Willemsvaart further north between Neerharen or Rekem and Maasmechelen, OR the Briegden-Neerharen canal which joins the Albert canal and the Zuid-Willemsvaart. The Dutch-language Wikipedia entries on the canals of Belgium clarify this -- https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albertkanaal, especially the subsection on "Links with other canals/Verbinding met andere kanalen", and include more accurate illustrations. I would delete these images but seem not to be able to do so.Bonwacket (talk) 14:11, 24 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
