Hunton's mother and sister

[edit]

Wikipedia has articles about Addie Waites Hunton and Eunice Carter, described as Hunton's mother and sister, respectively. They describe Hunton's full name as William Alphaeus Hunton Jr.. His father, William Alphaeus Hunton Sr. (with no Wikipedia article about him), is described as the founder of the Black division of the YMCA.

These articles have sources that should be used to fill out the present article about Hunton. Larry Koenigsberg (talk) 05:35, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A book referenced in the article on his sister Eunice Carter, Alphaeus Hunton : the Unsung Valiant, by his wife, Dorothy Hunton, is reviewed with an extensive summary of his life, at https://blackagendareport.com/alphaeus-hunton-unsung-valiant-dorothy-hunton. This looks to be a good source for filling out the article. The review's author, Denise Lynn, is described as "Associate Professor of History & Director of Gender Studies at the University of Southern Indiana, Evansville, IN. She is also Vice President, Historians of American Communism." So the review is likely authoritative.
There is also a good photo of Hunton there. Larry Koenigsberg (talk) 19:18, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
WorldCat lists some books by Hunton at https://www.worldcat.org/search?q=au%3A%22alphaeus+hunton%22+NOT+au%3Aaddie++NOT+au%3Acollege+NOT+au%3Aclarke+NOT+au%3Akartun+NOT+au%3Arobeson&inLanguage=eng. Some of these are available at Open Library, see https://openlibrary.org/search/authors?q=Alphaeus++hunton for details.Larry Koenigsberg (talk) 20:06, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
