Airfields[edit]

It may be true, but you should not simply state it in a sub-sentance and then move on without further explanation. It is one of the more controversial pieces of Norwegian WWII history. The people fighting in the North felt betraied (and some might still) while the people in the South were trying to cope with the new reality of being occupied. Some contractors might have seen it as an oportunity to make money and posisiton themselves in the new situation, others or all might have been forced or threatened into complying. If you choose to use the article on Alta Battalion as the place to inform people of this then that's your choise. I must say I disagree. This article is not the place to enlighten people on this issue and it is too complexe to simply blurt it out and leave it hanging as it is now. If you want to get it off your chest write a new article on it and link to this one (and other relevant articles), but leave the simpler wording here. Inge 10:34, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You make a valid point now, Inge. Will look into it when I have the time to do so. Such an article would be a good contribution, and as a historian I am the person to do it. And yes, we in the north felt betrayed by those who signed up to work on improving and extending Værnes air base while our boys were still fighting the Nazis. No mather how anyone should chose to look at it in my opinion working on improving the Luftwaffe's ability to bomb our own forces in still free Northern Norway is not merely immoral, it might very well amount to down right treason. However, the war-profiters were mostly ignored in the post-war legal process, due for the most part to the already vast number of people that was to go through the courts. Yet, you are right in pointing out that it is only in a subsentance and for people without knowledge of the facts it may be confusing.
