Terminology: androgynosvsandrogynous

[edit]

I have replaced the word "androgynous" in the article with the more specific term androgynos in all instances. The English word androgynous has many meanings and connotations, whereas the Hebrew androgynos is a very specific concept. I feel that it is important to assure that the discussion of this article retain this distinction by only discussing individuals who fit the Hebrew definition, rather than the more broad English connotations. It is a Hebrew word, so should probably transliterate from the Hebrew as androginos.

If it was Greek the second element might be -gunos or -gynos, but it is a Hebrew word borrowed from Greek. Compare the English word androgynous, which is English but is also borrowed from Greek. 71.47.254.61 (talk) 03:20, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's a Greek word

[edit]

It may appear in Hebrew sources as a transliteration. הראש (talk) 20:08, 30 January 2018 (UTC) הראש (talk) 20:08, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It is a Hebrew word (androginos) borrowed from Greek (ἀνδρος andros "man" + γυνἠ gyne "woman"). 71.47.254.61 (talk) 03:17, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Merging Androgynous and Tumtum articles

[edit]

It's my opinion that we should merge the two articles into one Red Gabriel (talk) 07:28, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
