Is this the same Andy Weir?

[edit]

A while back I read a webcomic called Casey and Andy, by someone named Andy Weir. Is it the same person? WhiteDragon (talk) 17:41, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is. [1]. --j⚛e deckertalk 07:51, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
So based on that, can we add that he dated Satan to his biography? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 111.240.170.79 (talk) 06:12, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I mean, who cares about anything else - C&A is his best creation. And nothing will persuade me otherwise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.208.126.115 (talk) 17:45, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"novels"

[edit]

The Martian isn't the first novel, and Zhek isn't the second, they are the third and fourth novels. All of Andy Weir's longer interviews and presentations state his time off from work he wrote Theft of Pride which wasn't published, and that he earlier wrote a novel that only his mother has a copy off. -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 05:00, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article clearly refers to The Martian as his first published novel. --Topperfalkon (talk) 01:55, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation

[edit]

So does his name rhyme with deer or with dire or with neither? Rwflammang (talk) 22:38, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The former, but I don't have a source we can use for that. --joe deckertalk 05:35, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
He pronounces his own name at [2] at about 0:28. --joe deckertalk 05:39, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pen name

[edit]

It seems a bit of a stretch to call an incredibly common shortening of Andrew a "pen name", especially because it's probably the name he goes by IRL and according to the infobox he actually does have a pen name he sometimes uses. I'm going to remove that bit if there are no objections. Nohomersryan (talk) 19:00, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bibliography is odd

[edit]

The bibliography section was rather odd, with some works listed multiple times, and lacked dates and publishers. I tried to clean this up a bit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skepticalgiraffe (talkcontribs) 22:24, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal - GURPS Casey and Andy

[edit]

I propose that GURPS Casey and Andy be merged into this article on Andy Weir. The RPG article has no independent sources and so is not notable. There is no article on the comic Casey and Andy, because it is also not notable. If there is any reliable information from the RPG article, it could be used to expand the note on the RPG book in Andy Weir. HenryCrun15 (talk) 02:58, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say it could be merged in David Morgan-Mar and GURPS as well. There isn't much to merge, though, as the only sourced line in the entire article is just that it exists. Everything else is practically original research about the content of the book. It's already listed at the List of GURPS books and on the article on Weir, so there's not much to do besides redirecting this page. ~Maplestrip/Mable (chat) 09:58, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect Andy Weir (writer has been listed at redirects for discussion to determine whether its use and function meets the redirect guidelines.
