Use of "Herr"[edit]

Regarding the use of "Herr": Herr could be translated into Lord or Sir, giving Lord Eugene Dühring, giving it more meaning to it in English. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PMAverageMe (talkcontribs) 10:11, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As a native German speaker and professional translator, I say you are completely mistaken. Herr in this context means Mister and nothing else. With similar reasoning you might translate Eugen into Well-born and Dühring into Thuringian. Also, a lordship is something specifically British, and Dühring was a commoner. Keeping Herr untranslated (but uninflected) in the title is defensible but by no means necessary.--2.200.163.53 (talk) 17:04, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
