New Army Chief[edit]

For all personal pages, like this one, I think there should be a section on "Family" giving brief personal information on spouse, children, siblings. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.29.198.47 (talk) 18:49, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well if you can get the info, feel free to add here. Joshdboz 16:17, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since my wife is a cousin of Ashfaq Kayani, we would appreciate not having our details listed for any Al-Qaeda psycho to have a pop at.They bombed the two London tube trains I take to work whilst I was on holiday in Rawalpindi, so missed me by miles there, scumbags. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Streona (talkcontribs) 00:24, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i can tell u a little about him but first let me ask Streona who says that he is something to gen kayani can u tell me how many kids he has and how many kids of him have died??tell me the names of the living ones?:) Deejah90 (talk) 07:31, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kayani or Kiyani?[edit]

I'm from China. The news I read about this general says that his surname is Kiyani. Which is correct? I hope some friend understands Urdu can give us a correct answer. Apollo Augustus Koo (talk) 09:40, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since i am directly related to him, i can assure you that his surname is KAYANI, any alternate spellings are wrong, regardless of where u read it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.61.56.100 (talk) 10:56, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is one of transliteration since the name is originally written in Urdu and is variously transliterated by different family members. Most of the English members use "Kiani" but before my wife (who is also directly related to him) came to England she also used "Kayani". I have never seen "Kiyani". Streona (talk) 20:48, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also if you check Gakhars on Wikipedia you will find a number of individuals listed called "Kiani" and "Kayani" who are members of this tribe- and of course the Kiani Crown. Also if you checkKayani there is an alternate spelling given of "Kiani". Unfortunately Kiani gives a comic book hero.

Streona 05:33, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hey streona,im a big fan of kayani...can u plz help me??im his big fan,i wanna talk abt him but since its personal so plz plz plz can we talk thru email?this is my email address, deejah_87@hotmail.com plz email me on this and i wnna ask questions abt kayani..plz reply (Deejah90 (talk) 07:26, 29 June 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Citations Needed[edit]

Is it necessary to ask for so many citations - NWFP is a province of Pakistan, just as California is part of the USA, or does that need a citation? Presumably Ashfaq gets on well with Musharraf as he made him his successor and likewise Benazir, who is referred to previoulsy as havimg appointed him DGMO. Streona (talk) 21:01, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lower Class?[edit]

What does this mean, in this context ? Streona (talk) 01:16, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

it means that Gen Kayani did not even belong to wht ppl term as the middle class. His father was an NCO, very poor, having a house with only one room. It just shows that how gen Kayani's sucess is his own work, he was in no way assisted anywhere during his career by any one else. Even though now as a general he belongs to the elite class, it only goes on to show that he wasnt born that way, rather he worked for it his entire life! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.61.56.100 (talk) 12:15, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Its wrong to refer NCOs as a lower class. You may say lower middle class but it still is middle class. If NCos are lower class, then how would you define labourer, worker etc. Also he looks lot like a South Indian Tamil Brahmin. I think he should get his DNA scanned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.71.216.207 (talk) 10:04, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hilal-e-Imtaiz awarded for successful investigation of Suicide attacks on President Musharraf[edit]

It is written wrong there that General Ashfaq was awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz for leading a successful investigation of suicide attacks on President Pervez Musharraf. Because in Pakistan armed forces every officer who rises to the rank of 3-star General(i.e. Lieutenant General, Air Marshal, Vice Admiral) is awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz without any special achievement. Reason is that rising to this rank itself is a big achievement. If anyone of you don't agree with me please discuss it here so we can make it correct! --SMS Talk 19:07, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why Improve BLP[edit]

In my point of view, almost everything mentioned in the article has been referenced well enough. BLP Improve template in my opinion is not needed. Sarmadhassan (talk) 10:18, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Early Life Section Needed[edit]

I think it was previously removed, for unknown reasons. He was raised in the Kayani clans (traditional martial or military clans) and his father was an NCO in the Army.

This along with other highlights of his upbringing are customary and expected for Wikipedia. Plus they add dimension to the article.

173.246.35.186 (talk) 21:30, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Plus mention of such details are widely viewed as positive in primarily English-speaking countries. They are also seen as endearing, not inappropriate or immodest.
