Opinion: Necessary?[edit]

Is an opinion section really necessary? If so, I propose references be cited for subjective statements. A previous edit made by Mr. Deon Steyn inserted two cn tags but were eliminated by user Fuzzyworcester.

The information in the Opinion section is biased and unverified. It should be either deleted or cited according to WP:NPOV and WP:VER

Comparisons[edit]

The article says that the A5 is comparable to a BMW 3 Series. But I felt that it's more like the 6-series. Does anyone agree?(Myscrnnm (talk) 06:39, 5 February 2008 (UTC))[reply]

It doesn't make any difference to the article what one or two people think, this is an encyclopedia. It is far more important to reference a quote from Audi on which BMW model they are targeting as a rival. Halsteadk (talk) 20:33, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeo but its lacking citations/refences,,, --— Typ932T | C  20:38, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dito to Halsteadk above. But the A5 definitely competes with the 3-Series. It's based on the A4, is the size of the 3-Series, and is in the same price range as the 3-Series.heat_fan1 (talk) 14:31, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Which came first[edit]

In the article under S5, it says that both the S5 and the A5 were released at the same time. According to Car and Driver (and my own personal experience), the S5 was released first. http://www.caranddriver.com/buying_guide/audi/s5/2008_audi_s5/2008_audi_a5_and_s5_first_drive_review+t-performance_and_interior+page-3.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.210.132.177 (talk) 18:30, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2.0 TDI Engine[edit]

The article needs updating to reflect the introduction of the 2.0TDI Engine (170ps/320nM). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamief00 (talkcontribs) 14:05, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oil Consumption problems, 2.0 TFSI Engine[edit]

Should this be mentioned somehow? http://www.oilconsumptionsettlement.com/ I know the same problem also happens in Europe, Switzerland handles it like this: http://www.srf.ch/konsum/themen/umwelt-und-verkehr/motoren-als-oelschlucker-amag-kommt-kunden-entgegen — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gürkan Myczko (talkcontribs) 14:02, 12 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

compact executive[edit]

according to the timetable its not compact executive --Typ932 T·C 13:30, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Multitronic[edit]

In the box on the right of the page, the Multitronic transmission is described as an 8-speed. I thought the multitronic was a CVT. Does anyone have any information on this discrepency (or am I misunderstanding)?173.8.220.209 (talk) 21:01, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

compact executive (continuned)[edit]

Thanks, Typ932. I know, many people confuse that the Audi A5 is a compact executive because it is based on A4. In fact, it's not compact executive but shares the platform from the A4, and classified in executive car class, along with A6. WKB|(talk here) 02:22, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

. . . behind the front axle[edit]

< The platform is notable for its departure from Audi's trademark "overhung" engine mounting position over the front axle, in favour of the powertrain being located behind the front axle >

Some indication, if only in words, as to how this is achieved would (IMHO) be rather more valuable than some of the other detail here . . . 86.181.117.134 (talk) 10:17, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The picture here: http://www.audi.co.uk/new-cars/a5/a5-sportback/engines.html does not support the claim in the article that the engine is behind the front axle. A citation is needed! 86.181.117.134 (talk) 20:43, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Another picture: http://germancarwiki.com/lib/exe/detail.php/audi/a5/audia512.jpg?id=audi%3Aa5%3Aphoto_gallery Assuming the windscreen is at the top of the picture and what looks like the radiator at the bottom of the picture is at the front of the car, the engine is ahead of the front axle. 86.181.117.134 (talk) 16:08, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

From: http://www.audiworld.com/news/07/a5-s5-in-depth/running-gear/ "To accomplish this special design, the engineers used a trick adopted from the Audi A8: the front axle differential is located in front of the clutch, so the drive shafts and wheels can also be positioned further forward".

In other words, the engine is moved towards the rear of the car by an amount broadly corresponding to the thickness of the clutch. 86.181.117.134 (talk) 16:51, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Record[edit]

Fastest driver to be caught speeding in the UK was driving an Audi A5. 180mph.--EchetusXe 17:00, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
