Where did that information about Aguinaldo declaring it capital come from? It was capital of the Philippines during the British Occupation from 1762-1764 and not the Revolution!

Spaniards under the leadership of Ferdinand Blumentrit ??[edit]

Ferdinand Blumentritt? Not the acquaintance of Jose Rizal from Austria?--Jondel (talk) 04:36, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Feb. 11, 2013 Chris Sommers, Victoria BC, Canada

American Occupation period - William Howard Taft was not a "Com.", he was the first American Governors General of the Philippines and had never served in the military. "General Grant" was President Grant from 1869-1877. I believe Admiral Dewey arrived in Manila Bay in 1898 and destroyed the Spanish fleet on May 1st of that year...The President at the time was William McKinley, who would be succeeded by Theodore Roosevelt in the fall of 1901. The US military commander when Taft was Governors General was Leonard Wood, who would g oon to found Baguio City as the American "summer capitol",creating the groundwork and infrastructure for the institutions that make it the "education capitol of the Philippines".

What else in this article is fiction or just plain wrong? This is, ultimately, the real problem with Wikipedia - unless one is an expert on the topic they're reading, they're not going to know the nonsense from the truly scholarly and credible articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChrisSommers (talkcontribs) 11:41, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Villa de Bacolor, Pampanga[edit]

If what this report says is true, then the process of renaming this article should be conducted. Thank you.

On this town’s 440th founding anniversary and 25 years after the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo’s eruptions and lahar almost obliterated it, officials here passed laws reverting to the name and seal given by King Carlos III of Spain in 1765. So starting Thursday, Bacolor’s name is once again Villa de Bacolor. The old name Baculud (high ground), however, is still permissible. Its official seal is again the Spanish royal coat-of-arms, set in yellow this time. Built and displayed at the facade of the town hall, the seal announces the motto, “Pluribus Unum, Non Plus Ultra” (Out of Many, No Further and Beyond) to indicate that Bacolor was among Spain’s most favored towns. It is one of five Philippine places that was given the title “villa” (city).[1] 202.90.136.30 (talk) 01:34, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure on the English WP standards for this issue. However, in many (most) Anglophone cities and towns, it is common for the official name to be "City/Town of _____", but on Wiki we usually defer to the commonly used name. If anything, perhaps the infobox should be changed from "Municipality of Bacolor" to "City of Bacolor"? I think that's how honorifics like that are usually handled, but I'm not certain. <> Alt lys er svunnet hen (talk) 03:37, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 19 September 2020[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

– Updated WP:MOSPHIL now allows <city name> only format for Philippine towns. Per precedent with RM's earlier this year such as those of Talk:Cagdianao and Talk:Baliuag. And also the following bold moves made by some Wikipedians before (not exhaustive):

READERSHIP STATS AS OF 09/19/2020, 9:00 AM (PHILIPPINE STANDARD TIME/UTC+8)

Bacolor
Porac

Per Wikipedia:ONEOTHER (brought forth at the requested move for Pateros), since there are only two entries bearing this exact name, there's no need for redundant disambiguation pages once these two municipality articles are moved to <cityname> format article title JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 01:21, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
