Untitled[edit]

I'm working on translating the Spanish article (es:Baja California Sur) and I'm confused by a few things:

"Reproduction of the gray whale"? What? (Breeding grounds, no? A.K.A.47 20:53, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC))

Yes. Breeding grounds it is. Literally "Place of reproduction of the gray whale". Bogdan | Talk 07:37, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I just left this part out. If you know how to translate that phrase, please do.

it's Biosphere Reserve. Bogdan | Talk 07:37, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Anyway, I've only done the first two paragraphs so far, so please continue translating this article.

-MatrixFrog 22:03, 5 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I'm willing to give my help (reasonable Spanish + connection to area). A.K.A.47 20:53, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

History[edit]

I've added the history section after translating it from a Mexican government website (so it is public domain). Somebody may want to add this text to the Spanish version. Some pre-columbian history would be welcome as well. Rune Welsh 20:47, Apr 26, 2005 (UTC)

Leaving aside the question of whether Mexican govt. sites are public domain are not (they generally aren't, not in the way US govt sites are), could you share the URL where you got the history from? More than anything, I'm concerned about the dates they give for statehood (it's contradicted by what's on Baja California, for instance). Hajor 21:20, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
You're right, with the date for statehood. I was still thinking about both states when I made the translation. I changed it accordingly.
The link where I found the information can be found here. Also, having a bit more time I found this Enciclopedia de los Municipios de México which seems fairly complete and has a great deal of info, which also seems more authoritative since it was actually published in print at some point. Other wikipedia articles would probably benefit from this source too. Rune Welsh 02:23, Apr 27, 2005 (UTC)

Translation of the article from the Spanish wiki is mostly done after I translated the last bit of history today. -Rune Welsh 18:20, Apr 28, 2005 (UTC) For some reason Todos santos has been left out and its a community far bigger than pescadero —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.176.133.254 (talk) 17:15, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Giant Coreopsis?[edit]

In the photo labeled 'Giant Coreopsis' I see Barrel Cactus, Saguaro, and Creosote Bush. I don't see Coreopsis. I nominate for correction/removal.LorenzoB (talk) 17:00, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wildlife[edit]

Upper elevations with more vegetation can have wild rams

Surely it would be wild sheep, not wild rams. Or do only the males take to the hills? Skinsmoke (talk) 11:47, 7 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

AREA[edit]

I noted a discrepancy between lede and table (73,745 v. 73,909 km²) in surface area. An internet search yielded a range of possible values, from 71,576 (on geography.com; a site which one should have confidence in) to "over 45,000 square miles" (trails.com, which is so far off the track that they must have grabbed a value for the whole peninsula or something). The official website www.gob.mx lists 73,909 km², which agrees with the value in the wikipedia page's table. I am taking the liberty of changing the lede value to this number; if you have strong reason to dispute my change, please discuss it here first.
