A fact from Battle of Amba Aradam appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 13 July 2008, and was viewed approximately 15 times (disclaimer) (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Yes, I stumbled upon exactly the same number. This is simply ridiculous, even if vehicle-mounted weapons are included. This severely challenges the credibility/quality of the source "the rape of ethiopia". Unfortunately I cannot put forward more reliable sources. Anyone? 213.61.58.164 (talk) 08:36, 10 February 2012 (UTC) koookeee[reply]
The Battle of Amba Aradam article seems to be sourced to a non-academic work that may be biased (Rape of Ethiopia 1936). There are several sources available and there might be an agreement that it was a rape of Ethiopia, but that would need to be reviewed. Given the topic, the article probably should first be based on academic press sources and then use the non-academic press as secondary information. While an effort has been done to write this article in neutral language, it still written from the italian/western viewpoint. An army that want to conquer a contry, and meets obstacles on its way.
How about writing this from Ethiopian viewpoint? A society and an army that is well organised but with very inferior armament. How they see the invaders come and how they try to cope with it. This needs use of Ethiopian literature. I'll start with writing the place names in their current transliteration (so far Italian spelling is used), but there is much more to do.Jnyssen (talk) 06:02, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please note that Template:Infobox military conflict#Parameters states against "result" that "this parameter may use one of two standard terms: "X victory" or "Inconclusive"." The infobox has been amended to reflect this. Please read the template "result" guidance in full before amending or reverting. It would probably be best to discuss any proposed change here first to seek consensus. Thanks. Gog the Mild (talk) 19:02, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
