The name of the village

[edit]

"Novo-Arkhangel'skaia Mikhailovsk" is not correct according to Russian grammar. The first part is of feminine gender, while the last word is of musculine. I've corrected the grammar but still do not know is this form correct according to the actual name.--Nixer 14:21, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GA Re-Review and In-line citations

[edit]

Members of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles are in the process of doing a re-review of current Good Article listings to ensure compliance with the standards of the Good Article Criteria. (Discussion of the changes and re-review can be found here). A significant change to the GA criteria is the mandatory use of some sort of in-line citation (In accordance to WP:CITE) to be used in order for an article to pass the verification and reference criteria. Currently this article does not include in-line citations. It is recommended that the article's editors take a look at the inclusion of in-line citations as well as how the article stacks up against the rest of the Good Article criteria. GA reviewers will give you at least a week's time from the date of this notice to work on the in-line citations before doing a full re-review and deciding if the article still merits being considered a Good Article or would need to be de-listed. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us on the Good Article project talk page or you may contact me personally. On behalf of the Good Articles Project, I want to thank you for all the time and effort that you have put into working on this article and improving the overall quality of the Wikipedia project. GA Sweeps Review delisted

[edit]

In order to uphold the quality of Wikipedia:Good articles, all articles listed as Good articles are being reviewed against the GA criteria as part of the GA project quality task force. Unfortunately, as of September 10, 2007, this article fails to satisfy the criteria, as detailed below. For that reason, the article has been delisted from WP:GA. However, if improvements are made bringing the article up to standards, the article may be nominated at WP:GAC. If you feel this decision has been made in error, you may seek remediation at WP:GA/R. The article currently has very few inline citations, even after the notice nearly a year ago from Agne. The current ones need to be better formatted with more description, consider using the templates at WP:CITET. Since inline citations are a requirement of the GA criteria, I have delisted the article at this time. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I have updated the article's history to reflect this review. Regards, --Nehrams2020 02:43, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kiks.ádi

[edit]

This should be explained better; I note it appears in the infobox as well as one of the combatants; what needs to be explained is it was the Sitka Kwaan Kiks.ádi vs. e.g. the Shtakeen Kwaan Kiks.ádi, and what the clans are. I also reworded the opening, which made it sound as if the Russians had driven all Tlingit from their ancestral homelands, not just this one group.

Great Tlingit Rebellion of 1802-06 and the FIRST Battle of Sitka

[edit]

Also to note that in various accounts of Russian/Tlingit history I've found online the Tlingit Rebellion began in 1802...possible title for a broader article could also be Tlingit Rebellion of 1802-1804orGreat Tlingit Rebellion, which is one turn of phrase I saw. This was just the climatic battle, of many; shellings of Auke And Angoon and other villages by the Americans continued much later, it's not like the victory as all that "decisive". But it's also odd, isn't it, that this article is only about the Second (Third?) Battle of Sitka; the first one, in which the Russians were killed/driven out (can't remember the details) was just as much of a battle....Skookum1 (talk) 04:53, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"The Battle of Sitka (1804) was the last major armed conflict between Europeans and Alaska Natives,"

[edit]

There was no battle between Europeans and Alaska Natives. It was a battle between Russians and Alaska Natives. Other Europeans (Italians, Germans, Spaniards, English,...) were not involved into this war.
