Corruption counts

[edit]

In his 21 years as Chairman of Philadelphia's Democratic Party, officials of that party have faced over a thousand federal corruption counts.[1]

Can someone expand or explain this? 50 counts/year seems high, but I don't know what the "normal" amount of corruption charges for a 20-year period is for a major but not world-class city. Has Brady been criticised for not stopping this, or accused of facilitating this?

Could use a source too. This was entered by 68.84.221.71 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), one-time anon editor, who also called Brady's district "heavily gerymandered". / edgarde 19:46, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Free Speech

[edit]

Brady has, according to Politics Daily, said he will introduce a bill to ban saying anything that "could be perceived" as threatening or inciting violence against a member of Congress, regardless of whether actual incitement or threats took place. This is presumably so that anyone who draws a picture of a congressional district with a bullseye on it (i.e. Sarah Palin), or says "They [the Republicans] bring a kinfe to the fight, we'll bring a gun" like Barack Obama did, can be prosecuted for doing so. Doesn't this count as a noteworthy stance on free speech? http://www.politicsdaily.com/2011/01/10/in-wake-of-giffords-shooting-congress-on-high-alert-but-intent/?icid=main%7Chp-laptop%7Cdl1%7Csec3_lnk3%7C194614 please view my source.

Infobox image/dispute resolution (resolved)

[edit]

@82.29.185.75:

Alright, it's clear we have differing opinions about the image that should be used in the infobox. As I'd like to avoid having to go to WP:AN/3 about this, I'd like to pursue dispute resolution.

I believe that, for all government officials (past and present), their official picture taken while in office (the one next to the American flag, in this case) should be used in their infobox. This is based on precedent from a majority of articles on government officials, especially in the United States. You obviously believe otherwise.

I'd like to reach a compromise for this so action by admins is not necessitated. Perhaps we could place your image somewhere else in the article, or we can use it for the infobox and put the previous image in a section related to his time in his position?

Thank you. Kirbanzo (talk) 18:24, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
