Bogd Khan vs. Bogd Khaan

[edit]

Since khan is the most common transcription by far of this word, I'd like to change this article to match. Does anybody really find this objectionable? --Orange Mike | Talk 20:08, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I know this question is from a year ago (and it wasn't changed) - but for the record, it should remain Bogd Khaan, not Khan. These are two different words, and the correct Mongolian one is 'khaan' (well, as it is being written here). Danzan Bagsh (talk) 16:47, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Successor state / possible change of title

[edit]

I'm not entirely sure that the article should have Occupation of Mongolia as a "successor state". While the occupation of Mongolia is a determined historical period and event, the Mongolian monarchy was still officially in place until 1924, with the Chinese occupation as an interruption. I'd say that the current infoboxes and succession dates in the two articles are a bit confusion.

On better title for this article might be "Outer Mongolia (1911-1924)" with the Chinese occupation period being clearly outlined in the infobox's succession of events. On the other hand, the infobox could be taken out of "Occupation of Mongolia", since after 1921 Mongolia was no longer occupied by foreign armies (other than Soviet influence, that is). Also, if I'm not mistaken, the country's official name was Mongolia, not Bogd Khanaate which is an expression used to refer to the period (but maybe I am mistaken here; please let me know). Official Name

[edit]

The official name was called the Olnoo Örgögdson Mongol Uls (Олноо Өргөгдсөн Монгол улс), should there be a move? --chinneeb-talk 13:33, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Moved to "Mongolia (1911–21)". Ancientsteppe (talk) 08:58, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New map

[edit]

The current map in the lead does not specify the borders of the khanate, so I looked for alternative maps to replace it. The main issue is I am not sure which is accurate. There is a map in the article (Map 1) which looks like a copyvio, but I've also uploaded a 1912 map (map 2) that has different, larger borders for the khanate. There is another map that has somewhat similar border to map 1 but is of higher quality (Map 3) and finally another map that has a slightly different set of borders (Map 4). What I'm really asking is if the Bogd Khanate had control of Inner Mongolia; if they did, we should use Map 2 as that is the territory at the greatest extent. (All of these can be cropped by the way) There are also maps on Mongolian Wikipedia. here and here Zoozaz1 talk 01:38, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
