Is this Soka group the Soka Gakkai, or just another Nichiren group that uses the same word for its name? The current version of the article is ambiguous in this regard. Clarification would be nice. Luis Dantas 11:54, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

NPOV/POV[edit]

Just to be clear on the recent edit: I took out the statistics portion of 'why Singaporeans choose Buddhism, etc etc' because, despite perhaps being factual, it still lends itself to being biased against native Chinese religions and 'superstitious' beliefs. If someone wants to include the information but rephrase it so it's more fitting, feel free. -- Hidoshi 01:13, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Modern Buddhism in Singapore[edit]

Point to take note: Buddhism spreading from West to Singapore usually constitutes to the rise of non-denominational Buddhists who see the religion more as a philosophy and psychology, breaking it of its long stereotypes. --Ajani mgo 13:51, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

is there any place to go to in singapore to find out more about non-denominational buddhism? are there groups and such?

Statistics[edit]

I took out the line "Buddhism remains the main religion in Singapore with more than three-fifth of its population declared to be adherents of the faith." simply because it directly contradicts the statistics offered at the beginning of the article, and the numbers in the following paragraph.

Something is quite odd with this passage "In line with ancestorial practices, many of the Chinese inhabitants also mix in Taoism and Confucianism to Buddhism. By virtue thereof, there is a strong trend blending towards Thai Buddhism, especially amongst the younger generation Singaporeans, which is seen to bear cultural similarities for its ability in encompassing Chinese culture and practices as represented in Taoism. Buddhism as represented by Theravada Buddhism, the oldest Buddhist school of thought, is seeing a potent growth in Singapore in the past decade." Anyone have a clue how it can be better cleaned up? Or is it just me?Silverelf (talk) 18:51, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

External links modified[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Buddhism in Singapore. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to trueorfailed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}).

http://dharmafarer.org/wordpress/ should point to http://www.themindingcentre.org/dharmafarer. This might be needed else where also hence it might be good to get a bot to do the URL change. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirinath (talkcontribs) 14:58, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Controversies[edit]

I think the controversies section appears inflated. It repeats details of criminal or inappropriate behavior which are already described on the wp articles about the persons involved (copy-pasted?). I would not expect to find such details in any encyclopedia with an entry "Buddhism in Singapor". IMHO a short summary should be sufficient unless good secondary sources provide some context and analysis. JimRenge (talk) 19:01, 3 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
