This article is very POV, and anti-British. It fails to record the degree to which the riots were organised by the CIA and KGB to support the military officers planning to overthrow the parliamentary monarchy. The riots were not in response to a massacre by occupying forces- the British troops were not in occupation of Egypt, and the deaths were not a massacre but the result of the police siding with terrorists. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.15.138 (talk) 00:52, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article certainly seems to be lacking neutral sources. Tiptoethrutheminefield (talk) 13:19, 21 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

So-called western influence[edit]

These are weasel words. The targets were not about western influence. They were cinemas, bars, nightclubs, and so on, which are essentially Islamist targets. If you read Hassan al-Banna, you will find that in his letter to the new Egyptian government in (I think) 1948, these are the things he specifically mentions as undermining Islam, and needing to be shut down. So the phrase Western Influence, while true in one sense, is utterly false in the larger sense, and the phrase should be dropped, and replaced with a true description of the targets. What this means of course, is that even if the Brotherhood, al-Ikhwans, was not directly responsible for the fire, nevertheless, their cadres, with or without direction from the leadership, took the opportunity the disorder offered to burn down "immoral" places. "Ismaïlia" spelling[edit]

This article consistently uses the spelling『Ismaïlia』while the Ismailia article itself consistently uses "Ismailia" (and is titled as such, obviously). Is this a conscious choice or should the spelling in this article be updated? Lennart97 (talk) 10:24, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
