Uniform[edit]

I am watching USA beat Canada in the FIBA Americas tournament right now and strangly Canada is wearing blue. The uniforms listed in this article are white and red. Instead the words in the article titles should be "reshuffled" to conform to other team sports' naming standard, i.e. "Canada national men's basketball team" should be moved to "Canada men's national basketball team" ("national" after "men's", not before, if you don't see the difference). • Modification: I'm not sure that this is a sexist thing, but in the name of consistency (not to mention logic), I still oppose the proposed move. Being precise is better than being simple. And what if a sport prodominantly played by women would enjoy increased popularity with men's teams? Would we then have "Canada national xxxxxx team" for the women, and "Canada men's national xxxxxx team" for the men? Maybe it's a little sexist after all... • Support We are discussing the naming of articles concerning national basketball teams, not soccer teams, they belong to another community. There is a consensus within the wiki basketball community that we should keep basketball-related titles as simple as possible. The word "women's" were added to female national teams only as a distinction from their male counterparts, any attempt to link them to sexist is an overreaction. I think the List of men's national basketball teams referred by Hadi Payami have cleary shown the type of naming format used by most national basketball teams. In fact, all wiki articles concerning basketball tournaments use the same sort of format as well. Here are just a few examples:

  • FIBA World Championship for Women
  • EuroBasket
  • EuroBasket Women
  • FIBA Asia Championship
  • FIBA Asia Championship for Women
  • Euroleague
  • Euroleague Women

• It would be a huge task to change all those basketball-related articles just to make them look "impartial".

• SUPPORT Since more than 200 national basketball teams use the same format, I can't see the reason to make exceptions for 3 or 4 countries. Unless supporters and opposers can come to agreement on alternative title, this RM is likely to close with No moves being made. The "notable prospects" section of this article is out of date, inaccurate, and does not adhere to the list guidelines, per WP:Source list. Over the past several months, names have been randomly added or removed, without references. This section needs clear criteria for inclusion, and every name added needs a source. Regarding this call for input from 3 months ago, today I hid the "notable prospects" section from view. There needs to be a discussion about the inclusion criteria for a notable prospect. The sources haven't been updated in 2 years, and the section is frequently vandalized by editors adding random names. If there is no criteria for inclusion on this list, then it needs to be removed. Does this section have any sources? If not it would not qualify and would be filed under original research and will have to be removed. I would love to see some sources and keep it though. Are there any? Krazytea(talk) 05:58, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sure this is just some editor's opinion. I have looked for sources of this online and found none. In fact, as of Jan. 26, 2021 the top Canadian in the NBA according to https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/nba-player-ratings/ WAR are Luguentz Dort and Chris Boucher, but those guys are buried as third stringers on this depth chart, whereas the worst Canadian in the NBA in WAR is Tristan Thompson, who this depth chart has in the starting 5, so the chart would seem to bear little relationship with current roster members performance.
