Unlike her siblings, Caroline Corr has no picture for her bio. Can a picture be added? TonyMath (talk) 04:16, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In reference to question above, I need to know. Does the picture for Caroline Corr have to be copyrighted? or should it be non copyrighted? TonyMath (talk) 03:31, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No offense but I still don't understand. The history reveals at least 2 or 3 attempts to upload a picture only to have the picture e.g. removed from wikicommons. Quite franky I'm baffled. How did e.g. Andrea, Jim and Sharon Corr get their respective pictures uploaded in the first place? TonyMath (talk) 01:55, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, for someone to get a Wikipedia photo it needs to be added with consent from the publisher/photographer and then it has to be free use meaning no royalties need to be paid. Take a look at Wikipedia:Non-free content to find out more on Wikipedia's policy on non-free. If someone adds an image to Wikipedia without consent from the publisher/photographer, it will be removed immediately due to violations. I hope this helps if not contact me on my talkpage. THANK YOU! At least I know what I need to look for. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.161.11.171 (talk) 05:57, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
To upload a photo to Commons, it must be freely available: either you took it, or the copyright holder (usually the photographer) agrees. See Commons:Special:UploadWizard. Looking at some of the existing Corr pictures on Commons, they had either been uploaded by the photographer or had been found on Flickr with a Wikipedia-compatible license.
It is also possible to upload to Wikipedia, not Commons, images to be used as "Non-free content", but the conditions are restrictive and strictly enforced - it must meet all ten of the conditions at WP:NFCC, and for a living person no.1 "no free equivalent is available, or could be created" is a stopper, because someone could take a picture and donate it. Hello again, I just uploaded a picture from Flickr with the same license as the Jim Corr picture in wiki-commons Caroline Corr
I gather that if it passes the Flickr Review, then there should be no trouble uploading into Caroline's bio. TonyMath (talk) 23:54, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(sigh!) No cigar! It turns out that the Flickr picture was taken from its "owner" from the web itself. It will be removed. Must start again :-( TonyMath (talk) 02:40, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have something in at last. It seems to have passed the Flickr Review.TonyMath (talk) 17:42, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Someone complained that Caroline Corr was barely visible in her picture. So I uploaded a selected area (in effect a slight zoom) of the previous picture. TonyMath (talk) 09:13, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
