Wiki Education Foundation-supported course assignment[edit]

This article is or was the subject of a Wiki Education Foundation-supported course assignment. Further details are available on the course page.

Above undated message substituted from Template:Dashboard.wikiedu.org assignmentbyPrimeBOT (talk) 16:59, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Attributes[edit]

Is Saint Catherine sometimes depicted holding a miniature ship, whose main sail bears the Papal coat of arms? If so, this should be added to the list of attributes in the article.

She smelled a sin?[edit]

In the Wikipedia article on skunks, a Jesuit's description of a skunk contains this phrase, "I believe the sin smelled by Saint Catherine de Sienne must have had the same vile odor."

What was this sin, what was the occasion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.119.204.117 (talk) 18:16, 18 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Patronage[edit]

There is an unsourced sentence in the main section of the article, paragraph 5:"She is also the patron saint of journalists, media, and all communication professions, because of her epistolary work for the papacy." However, in the "patronage" section of the side bar it lists her as the patron saint: "against fire; bodily ills; Diocese of Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA; Europe; illness; Italy; Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, Samal, Bataan, Philippines; miscarriages; people ridiculed for their piety; sexual temptation; sick people; sickness; nurses". Earlier in the paragraph there is a sourced citation for her being the patron saint of Europe and Italy. I could find no sources online listing her as a patron saint for writers, journalists, communications professionals, etc. Is there a definitive source for this sort of thing? I think this sentence should be stricken from the article, as it pops up in the Google results instead of her actual patronages and may be misleading people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.163.27.226 (talk) 16:30, 11 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
