@Wainuiomartian:. I have found archive copies of extensive documents from 2012 supporting a proposed classification/registration of a Wellington Harbour Board Historic Area. It appears that this proposal may not have finally been adopted, but the documents are useful resources for the history of various parts of the port and waterfront. There are two volumes:
I suggest that this article should not extend to cover the wider issues of waterfront development (including Lambton Harbour Management etc), but there may still be good material we can cite about the port. I will see what I can find here that is useful. Marshelec (talk) 00:11, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I found on the NZ Companies Office website that the name from 1988 to mid-1997 was Port of Wellington, and then from mid-97 to 28 May 1999 it was Port Wellington. Changed text to reflect this. Wainuiomartian (talk) 03:39, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This section describes events that were in the Harbour Board era - shouldn't it be moved to that page? And then on this page have something under operations about the current set up? Wainuiomartian (talk) 18:34, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Marshelec : suggestion to shift sections around. 1.Organisational change or establishment 1.1 Harbour quays, 2. Operations, subsections as is (need a subsection on cruise ships), 3. 2013 earthquake, 4. 2016 earthquake (or put both together), 5. new ferry terminal. I feel that the setting up of the company should come before what it does....what do you think? Wainuiomartian (talk) 04:38, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Wainuiomartian:. I note that the comparable article Ports of Auckland has a section on Turnover and another on Economic impact. Do you think we can find data like this to add something broadly similar to the draft? It would help to give a sense of scale and importance. Apart from that, I think the draft could be published to main space any time now. What do you think ? Marshelec (talk) 08:38, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, sure. I've had trouble finding much current info from sources other than CentrePort, but those topics are important. I will add some more about the importance of cruise ships to the economy. Wainuiomartian (talk) 18:08, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Wainuiomartian: This BERL study is from 2015, but is probably still worth citing if we can't find anything more recent.
While searching I came across the 2022 version of the Deloitte yearbook that you have cited (the 2021 version). There is good factual data about the port on pages 49 and 58, and probably other useful content I haven't found yet:
@Wainuiomartian: Sure. I am currently writing a brief section on the CentrePort health and safety record, given the fatal accidents in 2013 and 2017. Overall, I think the article is ready for main space. Do you agree ? If so, I will move it later today. Marshelec (talk) 21:56, 8 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
