Subject was one of two people who wrote the species description of the critically endangered species Djibouti Francolin (which has an amazing name, if I may lighten the mood a bit here.)
Subject is a recognized as an expert in his field and has been cited in many books on the subject.
Look up a bit. Article was a DYK for May 3. The reviewers clearly didn't have a problem with it.
Now looking at Wikipedia:Notability_(academics)#Criteria, Jouanin fits specific criteria number 1, "The person's research has made significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources." Looking at Wikipedia:BIO#Any_biography, Jouanin fits general criteria number 2, "The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his or her specific field." The specific field, in this case, is ornithology. See also Google books results and Google web results, both in quotes. ALInomnom21:22, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
