Deleted Święty Mikołaj section

[edit]

The information in that section is false and conflicts with the rest of the article (parts that are sourced). There were also no sources. It seems to suggest that the Polish Święty Mikołaj is exactly the same as the American Santa Clause. Both share a common origin, but they differ. For example this section said that Święty Mikołaj came both on the 6th and 24th. This is false as the it is stated in other parts of the article multiple times (even the intro!) that the Gwiazdka brings presents on the 24th. Also the stocking tradition is a totally American one. I suspect that the author of the section was raised in a Polish-American home, where traditions were very mixed and did not realize this. 24.4.29.155 (talk) 00:07, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Move?

[edit]

Perhaps this should be moved to Poland/Customs? --Jzcool

Perhaps. But What do we do with The Boxing day ? Move to the Great Britain/Customs and other countries subpages ?

I think it should be moved to Christmas around the world page. Poland and Romania look like they're the only two countries with their own Christmas page. Also, the sentence "and they wish one another breaking with everyone a wafer." They wish one another what? I'd guess 'Merry Christmas" or something, but anyone know? what are you talking about laura, by golly this is the best page on wikipedia! JEMdev (talk) 10:30, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a short entry at Christmas around the world page with a note to this article as the main article. RJFJR (talk) 13:52, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Festival of the Grains

[edit]

I've heard this called the Festival of the Grains by some persons of Polish descent 71.74.99.71 (talk) 19:29, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heard what? If you're referring to "bits of hay are spread beneath the tablecloth" then a source for that would be useful for the article. I've also heard of the "sharing of the 'opłatek'" tradition also being called the "breaking of the bread" ceremony. OlEnglish (talk) 03:04, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
