Frontman

[edit]

Removed word "frontman" re HD Manitoba's threat of lawsuit against Snaith. What is a "frontman"? This is not a common phrase with the general public. Either hyperlink or leave term off. Hu Gadarn 01:12, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dick Manitoba vs. Manitoba/Caribou ?

[edit]

Aparently someone has a problem with the following information (because they keep vandalising this statement): "Snaith previously recorded under the stage name Manitoba, but changed it in 2004 under threat of an American lawsuit by Richard "Handsome Dick" Manitoba [1], a musician and DJ ..." The usual vandalism appears as follows: ""Snaith previously *stole* the stage name Manitoba..." (my emphasis). Not very creative vandalism but that's to be expected.

PS - please note that on the Talk:Manitoba (disambiguation) page, ArglebargleIV's sleuthing resulted in these findings:

The current vandalizer, 209.196.192.7, is using an IP address registered to Sirius Satellite Radio -- Search ARIN WHOIS for: 209.196.192.7. I've saved a copy of that page. In my opinion, this appears to be someone with a WP:POINT to make and a personal dislike of the third entry. ArglebargleIV 22:38, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

For the record, so far, 209.196.192.7 has 5 identical content-removing edits in an hour, and the same edit as 205.188.116.139's 14 edits last night. ArglebargleIV 22:41, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi

Mathematician??

[edit]

Seems odd to bill him as a mathematician... sure he has a PhD in the subject but he'd barely be notable for that if he wasn't a musician. Seems more fitting to include this in a brief mention further down the article 95.147.50.216 (talk) 23:45, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed... --TarkinTor (talk) 10:36, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Disagree. If you've studied music theory, you are well aware of the mathematics that go into music composition. I am sad to see that any mention of him having a Ph.D in mathematics has disappeared from the article for that reason--I think it's amazing that he had little background in music when he started, instead relying on patterns in music. --SweetNightmares (awaken) 22:23, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think there should be some mention of it if we have a good source. It's an important biographical detail. The Interior (Talk) 22:31, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I completely agree that the PhD in mathematics should be mentioned, but he is not a "mathematician". Calling everyone with a PhD in maths "mathematician" is just silly, and I think this is what the poster meant. --TarkinTor (talk) 00:23, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

James Holden collabs

[edit]

I think we should add information about colloborations with DJ James Holden.Agree/Disagree? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dingleberry995 (talkcontribs) 18:18, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Caribou 1000

[edit]

I have a copy of the Caribou 1000 that needs to be cleaned up. Anyone?--Jahsonic (talk) 14:07, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
