Groups cited

[edit]

I am not sure that having a list of groups that the subject of this article has supposedly criticized is appropriate content for an encyclopedia article. I am going to move them to this page, and they should only be re-inserted if the criticism is notable. - Freechild 22:29, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Following is the section I removed. Again, please only re-insert on a per-group basis if the criticism was particularly notable. - Freechild 22:31, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Groups that Hanson has criticized include:

Neo-Prohibitionism

[edit]

Interesting. I wonder why the label is needed, since it is obvious that it is not acceptable to drink alcoholic beverages either publicly or privately. Chronicler3 (talk) 02:16, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

added "personal attack" quote

[edit]

Lest I be accused of anonymous commentary, I hereby admit to adding the comment about David J. Hanson's personal attacks on my father, Earl Dodge.

I'd simply forgotten to log in before adding that sentence.

Caldodge (talk) 05:32, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sponsorship of subject's main page

[edit]

Both the text of the article and the link to Mr. Hanson's main web page state that it is sponsored by DISCUS, a trade group. The front page of the web page itself includes the following statement: "This is a personal web page of David J. Hanson, who has received no financial support or other consideration from any agency, company, organization, group or person to post or maintain it. " Unless evidence is available to refute this statement, the references to such sponsorship should be removed.VAMark (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:22, 22 May 2009 (UTC).[reply]

The evidence is in black and white on the referenced page.『The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, Inc. provided an unrestricted grant that was used to fund this web site, for which funding also was received from other sources. The views and opinions expressed on this site are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of DISCUS or its member companies,…』Nunquam Dormio (talk) 08:50, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think the link description could be removed and the statement corrected to reflect the both the initial DISCUS grant info and the above statement. It would be a lot better to reference this info to third-party reliable source, but I've not come across any profiles of Hanson himself. Most search results seem to go to columns written by Hanson or articles using him as a source. Flowanda | Talk 22:54, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Could you provide a link to the page that includes the statement above? The home page seems to contain topical/current info, and I couldn't find the statement anywhere else. Flowanda | Talk 23:12, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A link added (and now removed) to the main article included the disclaimer info listed above, but the link appears to be a blog on another website run by Hanson: alcoholfacts.org, along with the recommendation that "For research-based information on alcohol and drinking issues, visit For the most part, the alcoholinformation.org links all seem to resolve to the potsdam.edu pages, while the blog does not.
