Height[edit]

Both the article and the DRBA website [1] both describe the span as "440-foot-high." Assuming "span" means the roadway level, this seems extremely high (I didn't think suspension bridge spans are higher than 200 feet or so). I imagine that the height refers instead to the support towers. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 18:29, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it's 174 feet below the bridge (I just added the relevant NBI data and infobox). --SPUI (talk) 22:09, 28 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Longest Twin or Not?[edit]

This is a debate that comes up every so often, and I'm sure it's been settled — though, this being the Wiki, I doubt it — but a.) does a since-deleted blurb on the DRBA's website hold weight over the info today regarding whether or not it's "world's longest", and b.) if it's not, where is the citation as to what is the world's longest? The Tacoma Narrows is usually erroneously thought of as #1, but considering those bridges are clearly not twins other than both being differently shaped and sized suspensions next to each other, what would actually be number one? If number one is something that can't be proven (doing a Google search of "world longest twin suspension bridge" shows sites claiming the Del. Mem. Br. as the answer outnumbering the Tacoma Narrows 10:1), should this claim even be made? If there is a clear #1 that is neither of these bridges, why isn't it referenced in this article? While a Google search clearly isn't anything definitive, if #1 can't be substantiated in any regard, what's the point of any superlatives?
