poppulation change[edit]

Does anyone knows what happened in 2000 - 2001? It should be explained.

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Tired time (talkcontribs) 13:22, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The demographic data from the CIA factbook data is inaccurate. The Armenian statistical website would be a better source.

Removed the statement regarding Russian being the "second language" in Armenia. Only because a foreign language is widely spoken in a country does not make it a "second language". Russian is not used by authorities in Armenia, does not have any official status nor it is part of Armenian identity or culture. Similarly, English is never considered a second language in, say, Netherlands or Scandinavia. 6:33, 23 July 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.205.75.2 (talk)

Main box (upper right)[edit]

Birth rate 2.97 births/1,000 population (2014 est.) Death rate 1.76 deaths/1,000 population (2014 est.)

Sounds like a bunch of nonsense. Chaptagai (talk) 14:06, 29 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Original research[edit]

The "Human Development" section is pulling some figures about "best in the region" across a number of statistics but only cites the raw UN data, failing to even define what that region is.

Male surplus in pop pyramid[edit]

The population pyramid shows a substantial male surplus in younger cohorts. Any reason for this? I've only seen this in India or East Asian countries in which female fetuses are aborted because families want to have boys. I'm not aware there is that same cultural tradition in Armenia, so I can't think of a good explanation. Chaptagai (talk) 17:44, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Chaptagai It may be possibly true that this is this case, Birth Gauge's graph here shows this in effect with China and Vietnam with Armenia and Azerbaijan. The population pyramid given on this page I believe is taken from UN data provided by Armenia's statistics office. Tweedle (talk) 19:33, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Where does 2022 come from?[edit]
