From memory. May need to be tweaked (or demolished and rebuilt). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.165.239.234 (talk) 16:40, 7 October 2002 (UTC)[reply]

I rewrote it from a historical source, cited in the article now. I don't think that the individual inventions such as the Dymaxion House etc. need to be described in more detail here, that is done in the corresponding articles. I left out two facts because I think they are wrong: Fuller didn't use Dymaxion as a synonym for more-with-less, and neither was it another name for the cuboctahedron. Correct me if I'm wrong on this. --Renegade Lisp 17:55, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They need to be listed: Car, House (referred to as dymaxion dwelling machine. Page needs to be redone.), Boat, Bathroom (needs a page), and several others. Thought about making a page that lists his inventions, by expanding the list of patents on his page, but would a list work here? Ieashu (talk) 18:08, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the "ion" in Dymaxion stood for "tensION", not "ion" as its own word. This makes more sense, and is also what the Buckminster Fuller Institute indicates on its website: http://www.bfi.org/about-bucky/buckys-big-ideas/dymaxion-world. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.143.197.34 (talk) 18:16, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's possible, but the source currently in the article is fairly specific about how the name was derived. Can you find another reference of similar specificity that claims it came from "tension"? The BFI site is a pretty good indicator, but I'd like something that has more-obvious backing behind it, like an actual quote from Fuller.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 18:29, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
