Copyright violation[edit]

Possible copyright violation. The first paragraph of this entry looks like it's taken more or less exactly from a press release (e.g. this page states:

Eaton Corporation is a global diversified industrial manufacturer with 2002 sales of $7.2 billion that is a leader in fluid power systems; electrical power quality, distribution and control; automotive engine air management and fuel economy; and intelligent systems for fuel economy and safety in trucks. Eaton has 51,000 employees and sells products in more than 50 countries.

The paragraph is taken from the Form 8-K report on the SEC website http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/31277/000003127703000012/etn2q2003earningsrelease.txt and is considered public information and may be distributed or copied. Removing copyright violation notice and referencing the SEC page.

I am not a copyright lawyer, but in general the rule is anything that is published is copyrighted unless stated otherwise. I see no mention on that SEC filing that it is not copyrighted. Chadloder 16:13, Aug 6, 2003 (UTC)

Athttp://www.sec.gov/security.htm item 3 states "Information presented on www.sec.gov is considered public information and may be distributed or copied." The filing is presented on www.sec.gov so I interpret that as meaning anything in the filing is now public domain.

Works for me. Thanks. Chadloder 16:29, Aug 6, 2003 (UTC)

University[edit]

There is an Eaton University off of Route 6inWilloughby Hills, Ohio. Comment placed in article by HBot3 Feb 19, 2006. Moved here by C J Cowie 16:59, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The best place to find detailed information about a business is on the web site of that business. There isn't much point in putting such information on Wilipedia. There are too many details and they change too often. From http://eaton.com:『Our commitment to fostering a high performance culture at Eaton is also illustrated by our investment in training and development. In 2003, we broke ground on a state-of-the-art training and conference center near our headquarters city of Cleveland, Ohio. The 48,000 square-foot facility is now home to Eaton University, the company’s primary source for technical and professional development.』--C J Cowie 17:10, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is Alexander 'Sandy' Cutler related to Harry Cutler?[edit]

Alexander 'Sandy' Cutler (chairman and CEO of Eaton), Cutler-Hammer is one of Eaton Corporation's Subsidiaries, Cutler-Hammer was found in 1893 by Harry Cutler (and Edward Hammer). Is Alexander 'Sandy' Cutler related to Harry Cutler? Or just coincidence? Best Regards DynamoDegsy (talk) 16:24, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
