This article is not helpful to its likely readers, it seems to be written for people who already know the topic. For one thing it is not even clear whether the indices alpha, beta range over 1..3 or only 1..2. Also the quantities in the equation are only named; they need at least an informal definition. Agreed, even a few commends might help. For Example: where does the second equation comes from? GuySoft (talk) 16:48, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There are serious issues with the displacement formulation in this page - the expressions neglect in-plane (membrane) components of the strain, which are well known to be in the Foppl strain tensor! 51.6.57.253 (talk) 14:59, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The article was originally on von Karman equations as expressed in Landau and Lipshitz. Please add the Foppl contributions to the article with the appropriate references. Bbanerje (talk) 02:27, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
