Why no Automatic gearbox for the new model?

Whats the point of not offering one?

Tals pages relate only to the article, and not the Product/Subject. 1B6 09:59, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Defining Model Life[edit]

Someone just changed the heading for the life of the first version of the (European MPV called) Ford Galaxy to 1995 - 2006 (formerly ... - 2005) because, as s/he pointed out, the thing was available for sale for more than half of 2006. And YET, we think the last one rolled off the Portuguese production line in 2005 (after which MPVs from that plant were all badged as VWs or Seats). To judge by the give away prices on first generation Ford Galaxys during the first half of 2006, Ford had a bit of a struggle to empty their parking lots of the first version (rhd UK versions anyhow) ahead of the launch to the market place of the second. But in fact it is a common situation during the period when demand drops off for run-out models while plants are tooling up for new / replacement versions. A whole lot of 'new' old shape Toyota Previas were sold in Europe in 2006 though I'm pretty sure than by 2006 the only 'Previa' in producation in Japan was the 'new' new shape currently not offered in Europe.

Is anyone aware of any general wiki-rule concerning whether a car's model life ends when (1) the last car of that type comes off the line or (2) the manufacture stops offering 'new' cars of the type for sale? Or (3) something else? Charles01 07:50, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect generation definition[edit]

In my educated opinion this wiki has the clasification for the 1st and 2nd generation of Galaxy wrong. As owner of the Ford Galaxy Owners Club, we have always referred to the Galaxy as MK1 (1995-2000), MK2 (2000-2006) and MK3 (2006-)

Ford's definition of the differing faces of the Galaxy have been Galaxy (1995-2000) Galaxy Facelift (2000-2006) and All New Galaxy (2006-) which concurs with our marking of the Galaxies as being in 3 clear time periods and generations. The Ford Escort Europe Wiki concurs with this method of defining the generations and marking of the model (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Escort_%28Europe%29) where the MKIV was just a facelift of the MKIII.

If you need any help in adding any detailed information and splitting the current marking of this wiki then please just ask and I'll be glad to help out. HairyPlateEater 23:26, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article refers to both the 2000-2005 and 2006-xxxx models as "MkII", which plainly can't be right. The German Wikipedia article for this model names the 2006+ version "MkII" and the 2000-2005 version a facelift for the MkI, which sounds much more feasible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hdbaumeister (talkcontribs) 08:15, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ford Galaxy / Ford Galaxie[edit]

I undid the recent edit by an unregistered user as the US Galaxie and European Galaxy are plainly two different vehicles from different eras. Both articles contain reciprocal links to the other and I would think this is sufficient to avoid confusion. juux09:36, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alphaville[edit]

The 1965 Jean-Luc Godard film Alphaville (Alphaville, Une Etrange Aventure de Lemmy Caution) contains a reference to a 'Ford Galaxy'. Did this have anything to do with the naming of the Galaxy or is it just a coincidence? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.168.66.76 (talk) 10:50, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
