The article mentions repairs to the sculpture in 2001 and repairs to the reflecting pool in 2005, and doesn't mention restoration of the sculpture itself in 2005. However, there are pictures showing the sculpture in an unrestored state, labeled as being from August 2004. Might those pictures actually be from before the restoration in 2001? They were uploaded in August 2004, but does any one here know when the pictures were actually taken? If they really were taken in 2004, then why does the sculpture still look to be in such bad shape despite the 2001 restoration?

Is there some rule somewhere that every discussion of a restoration of a building or work of art has to criticize the previous restorations? It seems quite de rigueur.
