Why is “south” capitalized? The title is in lowercase or sentence case, except for this. If it is a proper name, then it should be in title case. If it is not, then this common adjective should be lowercased, as south of Russia is not a proper name.
What is the source of this name anyway? There is nothing directly cited, and I don’t recall ever seeing it elsewhere. —MichaelZ.08:32, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: This is a direct translation of the unit's Russian name, so I don't see why it matters if it's "unwieldy". What I'm concerned with here is the capitalization. Does this follow the manual of style for Russian? 〜 Festucalex • talk05:53, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Translation of a proper name is normally in title case. But merely a descriptive title would be in sentence case. These are general practices, not specific to Russian. —MichaelZ.14:48, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Merge I suspect this "title" is the translation of a descriptive title in another encyclopedia, rather than an actual name that the army would have recognized. Much of the article is an (unsourced) order of battle that should probably be jettisoned. The rest would be better merged to Ukrainian–Soviet War. Walt Yoder (talk) 23:48, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
