Bot-created subpage

[edit]

A temporary subpage at User:Polbot/fjc/Henry Jacob Friendly was automatically created by a perl script, based on this article at the Biographical Directory of Federal Judges. The subpage should either be merged into this article, or moved and disambiguated. Polbot (talk) 21:01, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New book - March 2012

[edit]

A new book about Judge Friendly is being published this month: Henry Friendly, Greatest Judge of His Era, by David M. Dorsen (Belknap Press of Harvard University Press, ISBN 978-0674064393). I found it via this review. Both of these would probably be useful in this article. Cheers, CWC 07:04, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm keeping an eye out for the book. Word in the legal community is that it may rival the Learned Hand biography by Gunther among the most important works of scholarship on a federal judge who never served on the Supreme Court. I certainly agree it will be very useful and relevatn for this article. Newyorkbrad (talk) 01:30, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Error

[edit]

The main article currently says Judge Friendly was "in illegal practice of law in New York City, New York from 1928 to 1959." Is this an error? Dirca palustris (talk) 18:31, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Two drawings of childhood characters

[edit]

I read the New York Times obituary that is cited for the claim that there were five notes along with him when he died and that two were drawings of childhood characters. They mention three notes including the one to the housekeeper and two unaddressed ones but do not mention the drawings unless I am mistaken. Can someone double check this and remove the reference to the two drawings or provide an alternative citation for it? 151.200.54.198 (talk) 13:04, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 02:10, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sources are reliable. Just one image question:

Spotchecks. Footnote numbers refer to this version.

For these next three, I have no access to the sources, so can you quote the supporting text?

I'm going to stop there; the spotcheck does have to pass for a GA promotion, but it looks as if there are a couple of omissions from the citations unless I'm missing something. Once these are addressed, let me know and I will do another spotcheck. If you think there might be other imprecisions in the citations you might want to do a pass through for yourself before I do another spotcheck. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 12:13, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've just realized that this is a drive-by nomination: see this note in the instructions. I would have simply removed the nomination if I'd noticed it before starting the review, but since I've left some notes that may be useful to other editors, I'll fail the review instead. LosPajaros, if you want to nominate this again you'll have to post on the article's talk page and get the agreement of the article's main editors.
