I think that was meant as more of a critique of religious fundamentalism than anything else. I don't believe she's ever commented about her religious views, but she does occasionally make references to a "creative energy" and a "spirit", but these are vague terms. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.32.56.201 (talk) 05:24, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I only know for sure that she has publicly stated she is not a Christian. Her songs would lead me to believe she does believe in SOMETHING tho (i.e. Planet called home). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.142.53.137 (talk) 08:23, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Near chooses not use use the label, however she is bisexual. Please don't let this turn into a long discussion on identity politics. She has also said that she does not object to the label, just that she doesn't like it. Near is one of those who doesn't label her sexual orientation, but she is frequently referred to as bisexual by the press. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.247.166.29 (talk) 15:19, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I think what she identifies herself as takes precedence over what the press reports, people can say that I am gay but does that make me gay? no of course not. However there is a fine line to tread here, we should report that the press reports that they consider her bisexual, but also note the fact that she doesn't consider herself to be bisexual.--15:28, 12 May 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kerotan (talk • contribs) 17:28, 12 May 2008
Kerotan is right. The bios of living people rules are clear. If Near does not self-identify with the label of bisexual, then that trumps press reports, and she should not be in that Wikipedia category. Asarelah (talk) 17:26, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the listing of her albums? We have lots of nicey nice talk about her, but how about some facts, like album names, release dates, record label (even if mostly her own). facts, people, this is not a fansite for grooving on her (though she is groovy).(mercurywoodrose)76.234.122.170 (talk) 03:20, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
