[edit]

Why even have external links in Wikipedia? 95% of the time I click on them, they do not exist, as in the "Deep Inside Ice Giants" link in this article. 169.226.112.182 (talk) 20:58, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Contradiction in the definition of "ices"

[edit]

The sentence "[...] the term "ices" refers to volatile chemical compounds with freezing points above about 100 K, such as water, ammonia, or methane, with freezing points of 273 K, 195 K, and 91 K, respectively [...]" contradicts itself. Is methane an "ice" in this context? KingSupernova (talk) 02:57, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Giant planets

[edit]

So there is the term "ice giant", but other planets are larger than the two examples in our solar system. Can we really use the term "giant" then, for planets that are rather small? See also the problematic definition of "ice" as above. To me, when I read "ice", I instantly think only of water; I don't think of methane or other compounds as "ice". 2A02:8388:1602:6D80:36:3DD8:F92:1903 (talk) 12:24, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
