The transliteration of בְּרֵאשִׁית was rendered "bereshit" from the beginning of this article until February 2021, when Muinn (talk·contribs) changed it to "bereshith" [1]. We have an article Bereshit (parashah) that lists some alternative transliterations, including "b'reshith", but the hebrew letter taw ת usually denotes a voiceless alveolar plosive /t/ rather than an unvoiced or voiced dental fricative. Muinn provided no references for their edit and have since been blocked indefinitely for disruptive editing. I believe we should revert to the original version of "bereshit".
