1 to -1 years?

[edit]

This edit in January 2015 changed the understandable to me "60 to 75 years" in the lead paragraph to "1 to -1 years". This looks like vandalism to me, but as it's gone untouched for 18 months, I'm just posting here before reverting it. Anyone? --Pak21 (talk) 12:41, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As symbol

[edit]

I removed the sentence in the lede regarding Kerala. Not that it is not a Kerala symbol but rather that the placement is WP:UNDUE. The Indian elephant is a national symbol of Thailand, Laos and possibly India (as a national heritage animal – the tiger being the national animal). In India, it is a state symbol of Jharkhand, Karnataka and Kerala. These places could be listed under something like a Culture section, as other articles have done, with reliable sources. The article has a navbox and categories for symbolism, but without mention in the article. Declangi (talk) 21:30, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with that, and have removed it again after it was replaced. It needs a citation, which presumably won't be hard to find, but it certainly doesn't belong in the lede, since, as you say, it's not obvious why its significance to Kerala is any more important than its significance to other places. The article already has a line about it having a role in Keralan culture, in the appropriate section. Anaxial (talk) 05:41, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
