Cynthia Lennon's book

[edit]

In her second book about John Lennon (not 'A Twist of Lennon') Cynthia Lennon claims that Jane left Paul McCartney after she (Jane) caught him with another woman when she was returning home earlier than planned from a movie setting. All other sources I know of give renditions more favourable of Paul. Is this being discussed nowhere just because nobody cares about Cynthia's book? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 130.83.244.129 (talk • contribs) .

I've read her recent book, actually. I've not discussed the matter (exactly why Paul and Jane split up) because I don't see that it's encyclopedic nor does it interest me. I can't speak for others on the matter. --kingboyk 01:26, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The quote about her finding him havin' it away is from Barry Miles' book, which was with McCartney. He admitted that he did the dirty deed.--andreasegde (talk) 10:43, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jane Asher's father taught George Martin the oboe

[edit]

I recall this minor coincidence from the Hunter Davis Beatles biography; is it worth mentioning in the article?

Apepper 23:43, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yes... a ref is also in Macca's article. --andreasegde (talk) 18:12, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, this is wrong. It was Jane Asher's mother who taught George Martin the oboe - see Margaret Eliot. Ian Cairns (talk) 11:59, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I apologise - that's right.--andreasegde (talk) 18:55, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That’s probably the reason why George was so bloody awful at playing it.--Patthedog (talk) 20:01, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Could you add this webbie: http://www.sixties-jane.piczo.com ? There are lots of pics of the 1960s acting career of Jane, also articles and other kind of info. And links to other great Jane Asher webs that you could add too :) Also there is this yahoo group for Jane fans, with lots of pics (and some very very rare!): http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ladyjane

They are better than the last link of nudity! >:(

Photo

[edit]

We need to get a photo-she is just beautiful! Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 00:38, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can put a fair-use one in anytime, just don't put it in the infobox, as it will be deleted - put it down in the article.--andreasegde (talk) 10:34, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have put the famous one in, but lower in the article so it will not get deleted.--andreasegde (talk) 10:37, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Famous last words; the photo polizei are on the warpath... :)--andreasegde (talk) 17:11, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements needed

[edit]

Looking at this article I see it could be improved as follows: 1) The lead does not summarize the article. 2) Where is the career section? I don't like sections according to arbitrary topics ie Acting/Business and charity/Paul's girlfriend etc.these kinds of sections ar not objective in my opinion. 3) Undue weight is given to her relationship with McCartney. This section should be moved to the bottom under personal life. 4) Off topic info about her mother teaching the oboe to George Martin, nice Beatles trivia but not an important aspect of the life of the subject. I'm going to start making changes in these directions. Any input or help is appreciated. Thanks!--KeithbobTalk 14:19, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dates

[edit]

In the text of the personal life it says she married in 1971 but the box under her picture says 1981. 31.52.81.215 (talk) 21:29, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comments from WikiProject The Beatles:
  • As with Astrid Kirchherr. This needs a photo and possibly some more information (there is information about Jane that is available on her IMDB entry that is not in the article). Also, the Beatles-related song 'A World Without Love' is redlinked, as you can see.--Mal (8 March 2006)

Relationship with McCartney

[edit]

I know it is well-documented that Jane has never publicly spoken about her relationship with Paul McCartney, but I do find it quite odd that she still turned up to the premiere of the "Let it Be" movie alongside Cynthia Lennon, by now divorced from John. I mean, would be it considered hypocritical of her to not talk about Paul, but she was present at the London premiere of "Let it Be"? < removed rumour / potentially libellous claims > 61.69.217.3 (talk) 11:19, 19 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jane Asher

[edit]

Not mentioned in the history is that she also appeared in the TV series:'Crossing Lines'-in later episodes. 220.240.13.114 (talk) 14:03, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
