Biographical sketch by Theodore[edit]

At Caltech one can access:

On page 92 of that guide (re Section X, Box 139) there is mention of a biographical sketch of Josephine written by brother Theodore. This sketch is listed as item 139.15. There one might find Josephine's birth date, for instance. Some details of her polyglotism may also be given. Certainly there will be more than the bit culled from The Wind and Beyond. — Rgdboer (talk) 21:56, 18 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Date of move to Vaals[edit]

I have an Email from the Vaals city council with a scan of the original registration forms for both Theodore and Josephine. Their precise dates of moving from Aachen to Vaals as well as the address and places of birth and their status within the household (mother, head) are given. I'd be happy to contribute this mail as a reference. Can anyone give some technical help?--Rhetos (talk) 06:23, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

HiRhetos, about this addition, I would suggest that if the original document is not under copyright, it could be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons or the Internet Archive. That said, Wikipedia has a policy of WP:No original research: "all material added to articles must be attributable to a reliable, published source," and I'm not sure a registration form held by a city government really qualifies as published – was it publicly available? I usually only add information like this to articles if published in secondary sources. If you think the information belongs in the article, I'd cite it, of course. I'd use something like this (fill in the details, such as URL).[1]

Proposed move to Josephine de Kármán[edit]

Theodore von Kármán's page is titled with the Hungarian accents included, and as this is his sister I suggest that the page be titled similarly. In a quick Internet search I didn't find much about Josephine, only mentions of her scholarship, where her name is Anglicized to Karman, but I imagine this is simply because the proper sources about her aren't online. A similar search for Theodore von Kármán finds his name spelled as such all over the Internet. Note that I am attempting to follow the WP:Article titles guideline (subheading Foreign names and Anglicization: WP:TRANSLITERATE). Any objections? – Anon423 (talk) 23:29, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The scholarship is the primary reason for her notability, and the accents don't appear there. Further, she is distinguished from her brother by "de Karman" rather than "von Karman", so distinction is expected. Her person seems to attract little interest as seen from the 3 year old posting above concerning an archived biography. The proposed move seems poorly motivated as criteria listed for article titles do not support the move. Rgdboer (talk) 04:15, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
