Selected anniversaries for the "On this day" section of the Main Page
Please read the selected anniversaries guidelines before editing this box.

July 7

Florenz Ziegfeld Jr.
Florenz Ziegfeld Jr.
  • Joe Sakic (b. 1969)
  • Francis Hagai (d. 1974)
  • Eduard Shevardnadze (d. 2014)
  • More anniversaries:
  • July 7
  • July 8
  • By email
  • List of days of the year

  • July 7 deaths

    [edit]

I have removed the entry for 'casualties of July 7 bombings' from the list of anniversaries of deaths. None of the casualties was a previous notable with a wiki page of his/her own. Additionally several of the casualties died of their injuries on later days.

The horrific loss of life that the bombings caused is understood. However Wiki should not be used emotively, subjectively, or as a book of condolence. Martyn Smith 10:08, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. The victims of the July 7 bombings are included in the "events" section when the bombing itself is (rightfully) remembered. Horrific as the bombings were, they don't rate a double entry. Nolefan32 23:59, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    Removed

    [edit]

Removed Tom Weir from under deaths - his biography states death date to be July 6 User:Brenont 05:58, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    Bungie Day?

    [edit]

    Any one consider adding this? 98.210.221.231 (talk) 21:44, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is it, why is it significant? Is there an article about it? -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 19:30, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    Denmark cattle disaster

    [edit]

Can anyone confirm that this is actually an event? I have been unable to find any source for it --Insomnia64 (talk) 20:39, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    Luxembourg France

    [edit]

The reference contains no useful information, there are just links to each of the countries and the historical background is impossible to find. --ColoradoZ (talk) 05:16, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    Tanabata Correction

    [edit]

Tanabata in Japan occurs on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar (mid august), not the 7th day of July, someone familiar with the wiki days of the year project should fix this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.167.101.254 (talk) 19:35, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I posted a similar comment on another page today, and was corrected. If you read further in the Tanabata article, it states that it's common now for the festival to be observed on July 7, rather than on the traditional date of the 7th lunar month. LarryJeff (talk) 19:44, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    Riots

    [edit]

The article contradicts the lead: Evangelicals were the Abolitionists, the rioters were Catholics. — Leandro GFC Dutra (talk) 23:12, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    Continued cleanup

    [edit]

Continuing the ongoing effort to reduce the size of the Births and Deaths sections to make them manageable, I've removed some celebrities with few or no articles in other wikipedias, moving the entries to the appropriate Year in Topic article if they were not already present. This is in accordance with the guidelines. Deb (talk) 11:54, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    Incorrect Birthdays

    [edit]

Some are falsely included in "birthdays", for example Dominik Furman born July 6 or Adele Goldberg born July 22. We could instead include Toni Garrn --Noogoom (talk) 23:39, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    World Chocolate Day

    [edit]

industrial promotion. Wikipedia DOY is full of them. should be deleted. --142.163.195.90 (talk) 22:25, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    any discussion? --142.163.194.244 (talk) 13:39, 7 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It has its own WP page with 14 sources. It is therefore presumed to be a notable occurrence, whether or not the observance was promoted by the Chocolate fat cats. ‡ El cid, el campeador talk 13:45, 7 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
