we sure about Songkran? Isn't that a Thai borrow word?[edit]

I've been in Laos for 6 months and I have never heard a Lao call Bpi Mai "Songkran", the greeting is always "sabaidee bpi mai" Can anyone confirm? --Hypo Mix (talk) 18:12, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, I even confirmed with many Lao/Lao Americans about this. Why is this article titled with a term that Lao people do not commonly use. 3/26/2018 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.171.240.50 (talk) 18:26, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, and I have since moved the article. SpencerT•C 01:57, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

hey laos peoples.. well i am here to ask some questions. i was just wondering that i thought that it's not suppose to be called pee mai or some thing like that. on my book it says pimai, and is there a story behind your new year??do u guys have any taboos?? if you don't know what taboos mean then i will tell you. It is things or stuff that you can't eat or do during the pimai new year.

well this is all so yea.. have fun with the rest ok??

This page has no inline sources. It also says that the Lao people celebrated New Year's on January 1 before moving into current homeland, which seems doubtful. Winter Maiden (talk) 12:20, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Issues[edit]

The article is not well-referenced. Some sections, such as "Advise to tourists" seems to be original research.

The dates might be wrong. For example according to http://thaholiday.com/laos-public-holidays-schedule-2014/ and http://www.vientiane-hotel-link.com/event/Pii_Mai_Lao_New_Year_ it's 14 to 16 of April. Dmatteng (talk) 13:26, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
