Hi, 91.104.67.52. Thanks for editing the article on 3 October by adding the following information:

However, I noticed that this information is unreferenced, and may therefore be deleted by another editor. It sounds like you know Tan and therefore this information is based on your personal knowledge. Unfortunately, if this is the case, there is no way for other people to independently verify this information, which is why such information is generally not allowed in Wikipedia articles. Are you able to provide sources for the information, such as websites or printed works (e.g., school annuals and magazines, and newspaper and magazine articles)? Please leave a message here if you would like some help. Thanks. — Cheers, JackLee talk 05:23, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, 91.104.123.210, thanks for your edits to the article on 11 October 2008. However, I've reverted a few of them for the following reasons:

I look forward to discussing the above changes with you. — Cheers, JackLee talk 09:17, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, 91.104.123.210. You have continued to make changes to the article without explaining why you have done so, and without responding to a request for clarifications on the article's talk page. That is not how things are done on Wikipedia. If there are disagreements about the content of articles, these must be discussed so that consensus can be reached. — Cheers, JackLee talk 04:33, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This article was the subject of a complaint to the Foundation. Cited were the invasion of privacy that this article presents (I agree per WP:BLP - specifically, the section on names) and the inaccuracy of the medal table. I've temporarily reverted the article back to the anonymous editor's version. Please do not re-add this content until it is revised to be written more conservatively, with great respect for Ms. Tan's privacy. Some corroborating sources for the medal table would also be nice - as it stands, it's sourced to a single primary document, which is inappropriate for the biography of a relative non-public figure. east718 // talk // email // 10:31, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, east718. All this could have been avoided if the anonymous editor had simply discussed the matter here on the talk page. I note that the editor did put a comment on my talk page, then for some reason deleted it. I have revised the article and have reinserted the following information that does not raise privacy concerns:
  • The infobox.
  • The information about the debate about the support and recognition given to Olympic and Paralympic sportspersons in Singapore, which was prompted by Tan's Paralympic win.
  • The medal table – I have only indicated the Paralympic medals since there are verifiability concerns regarding the other events. I would point out that the editor did not at any time point out that the medal table was inaccurate.
I have read "Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Privacy of names" and "Privacy of personal information" and agree that the names of Tan's parents and brother, and the place in the UK where she presently lives, are tangential to the article and need not be mentioned, though I note this information appeared in the press. However, I do not see why the following information, which is all properly referenced as it appeared in newspapers, is of a private nature and would suggest that it be reinserted into the article:
  • The fact that taking up horse-riding improved Tan's health and eventually enabled her to walk and to drive a car, and that as a child she played cricket and football with her brother and swam competitively. The information shows Tan was active as a child despite her disability.
  • The fact that Tan received S$25,000 from the Singapore National Paralympic Council's Athletes Achievement Awards scheme. This is a matter of public record. I have to disagree that Tan is a "relative non-public figure". She is the first-ever winner of a Paralympic medal for Singapore.
I look forward to hearing from you and from the anonymous editor on this matter. — Cheers, JackLee talk 17:12, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The complaint was responded to and wasn't followed up upon. I think the article looks fine now, nice work. east718 // talk // email // 22:33, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Result: Kept. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 22:33, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

GA from 2008. Needs updating on her post-2012 career as she has appeared in many races after that date. Spinixster (chat!) 02:49, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I expanded the article a bit to add her participation in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, though Im not sure if she participated in any races between that and the 2012 London Paralympics. Blue Jay (talk) 01:45, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Expanded the article to include more of the races she was in; however some info is missing from them, so hopefully more sources could be found that can have these info. Blue Jay (talk) 08:10, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Added the extra information, hopefully all the concerns have been addressed. Blue Jay (talk) 01:39, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
