Dear EnigmaMcmxc, thank you for your edits re 3 and 6 Divisions. It's rare that I learn something new about 2 NZEF on the Internet beat, but it seems that Major-General Stephens wasn't being quite frank/comprehensive when he wrote in Problems of 2 NZEF that they had to refer to New Zealand for the Cascade divisional numbering, because that would have given them the answer 6th, rather than the 3rd which was probably something that somebody at Maadi Camp thought up without reference to Army HQ in Wellington. Then later they got the actual answer from Wellington - 3 Div was forming for Pacific service, cannot be used!!
