– Per MOS:CAPS (esp. MOS:JOBTITLES), for consistency with each other and with various other such articles, and per series of recent multi-page RMs [1], [2], [3], [4], etc. These moves will also be consistent with the approach generally used for mayors of places in other countries in Category:Lists of mayors. The nominated articles cover both the mayor and later lord mayor versions (Mayor of Leeds redirects to Lord Mayor of Leeds, etc.), and consist of just a list and a short lead section, so should be at "List of ..." titles like other articles in this series. — SMcCandlish ☺☏¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 15:33, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
PS: These are not the only ones that need a conformance rename, but the rest may need to be examined one-on-one, as we have some cases where we have separate lists for mayors and lord mayors, and other cases of separate articles on the history of the mayor and lord mayor positions, sometimes also with one or more separate list articles for them, which need merging, except when the positions are distinct and conconcurrent, as in the unusual cases of concurrent mayor and lord mayor positions (see #Further cleanup needed, below). Anyway, some more multi-article RMs can probably be put together (one has, here), but I don't have the time or interest to do all of them personally; I just ran across these while doing redirect and rcat cleanup. WP:There is no deadline, so moving them all at once is not a necessity (and some people object to too many or very broad multi-RMs, anyway). One multi-RM that can be done ASAP is moving various "Mayor of Foo", "Mayors of Foo", "Lord Mayor of Foo", "Mayors and lord mayors of Foo", "List of Lord Mayors of Foo", etc., articles, not listed in the current RM, to "List of mayors of Foo" in absence of any need to merge anything. Oppose specifically Lord Mayor of Leeds, generally renaming articles to Lists. A list is a list. An article about the office and the holders is an article. It would be better to move the list part of articles to separate List pages, as with Lord Mayor of London. For the time being "List of Lord Mayors of X" should direct to a section in the appropriate article. I would support expansion of articles on Mayors where there is more information which could be added. See WP:SAL: Our list articles should not be just lists, but require a MOS:LEAD section to provide context, inclusion criteria, etc. – which fits the pattern of all the nominated articles. You're making an argument that these should not be renamed to "List of" titles because they have lead material that isn't part of the list proper, yet this is precisely the format required of a list article on Wikipedia. — SMcCandlish ☺☏¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 18:37, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Because in that particular case there's so much to write about Lord Mayor of London as a title and office that WP:SPLIT comes into play. Those articles are not under discussion for merging and seem able to stand alone pretty well, though List of Lord Mayors of London should move to lower-case "lord mayors". A different argument could actually be made that the lists should all merge to the articles on the titles/positions, since there's no necessity that they exist as stand-alone lists, and it's a disservice to readers to make them go to two articles instead of one to find what they're looking for about the same topic. The directly elected Mayor of Leicester and the ceremonial/civic Lord Mayor of Leicester are separate articles which may or may no be a good idea. There's another Leicester-style distinction that has resulted in a previously noted very confusing article split, presently at List of mayors of Tower Hamlets (about civic mayors) and Mayor of Tower Hamlets (about directly elected mayors). I'm not 100% sure what the ideal fix is, but someone please propose one in another RM. One approach is that taken by Civic mayor of Doncaster versus Mayor of Doncaster though the name of the second article is still confusing and ambiguous, and all the articles of this sort should probably be "List of", since they are about the people not the title itself as a words as words matter (per WP:NOTDICTIONARY). A consistent approach should probably be taken with Leicester, Tower Heights, Doncaster, and any similar cases, whether it be leading with "civic" versus "[directly] elected" in the title (as used with Directly elected mayor of Salford and Civic mayor of Salford), or the same but using parenthetic disambiguation, or whatever. They could even be merged into single articles per location, with the role distinctions covered in separate list sections, a common approach used in many subjects (see, e.g., List of world eight-ball champions). I personally favor that last option, as it will be helpful to readers (it does not presuppose that they're already experts in British civil administration and know exactly what micro-topical article they're looking for), and it will reduce editorial maintenance needs by reducing pointless page profusion, while minimizing the tendency of people to add information to the wrong article or to make incorrect "corrections". — SMcCandlish ☺☏¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 15:33, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

When this article was Lord Mayor of Leeds it reflected the title. Now it has been converted to List of mayors it does not. Notably because there is not a list of Mayors only Lord Mayors. I also note that the bottom bit is the "Lists of Lord Mayors in the United Kingdom" template. What should be done about this? Chemical Engineer (talk) 10:11, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
